In a shocking turn of events, Troy Frith, a 32-year-old former contestant on Love Island U.K.’s second series, has been sentenced to one year and two weeks in prison following a violent assault over a parking dispute. The incident, which left a man with severe head injuries, has cast a dark shadow over Frith’s fleeting reality TV fame.
The altercation took place on April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:22 p.m. outside a supermarket in Tunbridge Wells, roughly 40 miles southeast of London. According to PC Faye Gubby, who led the investigation for Kent Police, Frith grew impatient while waiting for a family to remove a child seat from their car. Despite other parking spaces being available, Frith’s frustration boiled over into violence. He punched the victim, causing him to fall and sustain significant head injuries. Frith fled the scene before police arrived but was apprehended later that evening.
On July 8, Frith appeared at Woolwich Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The judge, taking into account the unprovoked nature of the attack, handed down the custodial sentence. “While he indicated remorse by asking about the victim’s welfare, he still caused serious harm to a man over a relatively trivial matter,” PC Gubby stated in a press release, emphasizing the senselessness of the assault.
Frith first rose to public attention in 2016 as a late entrant on Love Island’s second series, joining the show on day 30. During his brief stint, he went on a date with Tina Stinnes, who later joined Made in Chelsea. However, Frith’s time in the villa was short-lived; he was eliminated a week later after failing to couple up with Olivia Buckland, losing out to rival Adam Jukes. His appearance on the show also drew criticism from his ex-girlfriend, Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson, who took to social media to slam Frith for leveraging their past relationship to secure his spot on the program. “Name dropping a ex or anything like it purely to get on a TV show is probably the most annoying thing in the world #cringe,” she wrote at the time.
The incident marks a stark fall from grace for Frith, whose reality TV persona now contrasts sharply with the consequences of his actions. The case serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly tempers can flare and lead to devastating outcomes, even in seemingly mundane situations like a parking dispute.
