The Traitor UNMASKED! The moment Clare Balding called out Alan Carr after his betrayal of best pal Paloma Faith left viewers ‘on the edge of their seats’

Clare Balding was branded a ‘genius’ by The Celebrity Traitors viewers as she was the only one who correctly suspected Alan Carr of being a Traitor.

The Traitors are made up of comedian Alan, chat show host Jonathan Ross and singer Cat Burns.

They were tasked with murdering a Faithful ‘in plain sight’ on Wednesday, with Alan knocking Paloma out of the game by touching her face with ‘poison pollen’.

After Paloma was sent home, Clare noted how she was close friends with Alan and therefore he might have murdered her because it would seem unlikely.

She is so far the only player to seriously suspect Alan might be a Traitor.

Viewers praised her sleuthing skills, writing on X: ‘Clare Balding being a genius!”

‘Clare Balding has sussed out Alan Car’… ‘If I go missing I want Clare Balding to be on the case.’

‘Clare Balding the new Claratha Christie.’

Asked by Claudia how he felt about Paloma ‘dying’, Alan said: ‘Well I think we’re all going to miss her really’,

‘We will avenge her death!’, Jonathan added.

Alan added: ‘We really did have a bond. I think Paloma’s murder has thrown everyone off my sense. I’m getting ‘are you alright, I know Paloma was close to you’.

Fans were left fuming at Thursday’s episode as it ended on a cliffhanger during the nail-biting roundtable.

Rather than reveal who the first star banished from the show was, the episode ended in the middle of the voting.

Only about half the celebrities’ votes had been revealed, with Kate Garraway and Niko Omilana both receiving three votes for banishment.

Tameka Empson had received two votes and Tom Daley got one.

In reality Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns are the Traitors.

But just before Stephen Fry revealed who he had voted for, the show ended with fans left wondering who will be banished.

They expressed their frustration on X, writing: If it’s one thing us Brits can’t cope with, it’s s**t tea and a cliffhanger on the BBC.’

‘Why do they keep ending on cliffhangers?’… ‘Oh come on! They should have shown the results of that tonight.’

‘OMG You can’t end Celebrity Traitors in the middle of the round table’… ‘Why do they leave it like that? And not on till next Wednesday?!’

During the episode, Kate came under quick suspicion from her fellow celebrities for her behaviour.

After all the celebrities turnedup at breakfast without a murder having taken place, Kate immediately stood up and suggested The Traitors could have recruited someone.

Some of the other contestants also felt she was acting differently to her usual self.
