BREAKING: Cowboys Shock NFL With 6-Word Bombshell About $72 Million Trade!

The Dallas Cowboys have once again found themselves at the center of NFL trade rumors, this time linked to Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. However, the team’s front office has swiftly moved to shut down speculation with a blunt response that has sent shockwaves through the league.

Origin of the Jalen Ramsey Trade Rumor

The rumor mill began churning in May 2025 when ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler suggested Dallas as a potential destination for Ramsey during a “SportsCenter” segment on May 23. Fowler pointed to the Cowboys’ aggressive offseason, which included three trades for players on rookie contracts, as evidence they might pursue a veteran like Ramsey, who is locked into a three-year, $72 million contract through 2028.

“NFC East could be one to watch,” Fowler said. “The Dallas Cowboys… could they make a fourth trade on an NFL veteran who’s on a bigger contract? Certainly, but they need cornerback help.”

Fowler’s comments were fueled by Dallas’ reported interest in bolstering their secondary, with a source in Dallas hinting, “It’s possible we might not be done. It’s slow right now, but we could always be looking to add.”

Cowboys’ EVP Stephen Jones Shuts Down Ramsey Rumors

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones quickly dismissed the Ramsey speculation with a six-word bombshell during a June 3 interview, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota: “No, he plays for the Dolphins.” The concise response left no room for ambiguity, effectively pouring cold water on the idea of Ramsey joining Dallas.

Jones further tempered expectations of any blockbuster moves, stating, “We don’t have anything that’s on the front burner,” signaling that the Cowboys are not actively pursuing major trades with training camp just over a month away.

Cowboys Insiders Dismiss Ramsey Trade

The Cowboys’ organization was quick to align on this stance. Former Cowboys scout Brian Broaddus took to X on May 25, stating, “Hearing late last night that the Jalen Ramsey news was not accurate according to a couple of folks I got to talk to. Don’t think I was getting steered the wrong way.” Longtime Cowboys reporter Ed Werder echoed this sentiment on May 24, noting, “I do not believe this has even been a topic of discussion within the Cowboys at this time.”

The financial implications also make a Ramsey trade unlikely. With star cornerback Trevon Diggs already signed to a five-year, $97 million deal, adding Ramsey’s hefty contract would strain Dallas’ salary cap, especially as they prepare to offer a lucrative extension to superstar Micah Parsons.

Could Jaire Alexander Be an Alternative?

While Ramsey appears off the table, rumors have swirled about another veteran cornerback, Jaire Alexander, who the Green Bay Packers are reportedly considering releasing, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. However, The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher dismissed the idea of Alexander joining Dallas, stating on June 9 via X, “I don’t think the Cowboys will look at Jaire Alexander. They already have enough injured CBs on their roster.”

Cowboys’ Focus Shifts to Parsons’ Extension

With no major trades on the horizon, the Cowboys are turning their attention to securing a long-term deal for Micah Parsons, a move that could redefine their roster priorities. For now, Dallas seems content to rely on their current defensive backfield, led by Diggs, while dismissing high-profile trade targets like Ramsey and Alexander.

As the NFL offseason progresses, the Cowboys continue to make headlines, but their latest response suggests fans should temper expectations for a blockbuster trade.
