NFL world shocked: ‘Deal king’ UFL is about to sign a huge contract with Cowboys!

The NFL rumor mill is buzzing with the latest speculation out of Dallas, where the Cowboys are reportedly eyeing a surprising move to bolster their quarterback depth. According to recent comments from Cowboys COO Stephen Jones, the team is actively scouting talent in the United Football League (UFL), and one name has emerged as a prime target: Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez, the self-proclaimed “Spring King.”

Jones recently hinted at the Cowboys’ interest in the UFL, stating, “We’re watching that in terms of those guys doing a good job over there, and we’ll see if there’s anybody who can help us there and we’ll just keep our eyes on what might become available.” This comes as no surprise given Dallas’ history of successfully mining UFL talent. All-Pro stars KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey both launched their professional careers in the UFL before becoming key contributors for “America’s Team.” Could Perez be the next to follow in their footsteps?

Luis Perez, a local product and the face of the UFL’s Arlington Renegades, led his team to a league championship and cemented his status as one of the league’s premier players. In the UFL’s 10-game season this past spring, Perez dominated as the passing champion, racking up an impressive 2,298 yards. His stellar performance has sparked speculation that the Cowboys could bring him in as a “camp arm” for training camp, with the potential to earn a spot on the practice squad or even compete for a roster position.

The Cowboys’ quarterback room is already set at the top with Dak Prescott, the NFL’s highest-paid player, taking first-team reps, and Joe Milton III, a recently acquired athletic standout, slotted as the backup. However, the third-string spot, currently held by Will Grier, could be up for grabs if Perez impresses during camp.

Perez’s journey to this point is nothing short of extraordinary. The 31-year-old didn’t play high school football and instead honed his skills as an amateur bowler before teaching himself the quarterback position through YouTube tutorials. His perseverance led him to star at Division II Texas A&M Commerce (now East Texas A&M), followed by stints in five different professional leagues, including practice squad roles with four NFL teams. Perez has also authored a best-selling biography chronicling his remarkable rise.

For Perez, signing with the Cowboys would be a poetic homecoming. The team plays just across the street from Choctaw Stadium, where he became a UFL star with the Renegades. A strong showing in training camp could turn this local hero into the next big story for Dallas, proving once again that the Cowboys have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough.

As the NFL world waits to see if the “Spring King” will ink a deal with America’s Team, one thing is clear: Luis Perez’s journey is far from over, and his next chapter could be the most exciting yet.
