LONDON DROP A BOMBSHELL: Arsenal had an ’emergency’ option before signing Eberechi Eze, and now they can go back for him

Arsenal need to be creative in re-inventing their attacking options for the latter stages of the season, and that should involve a move for Ademola Lookman.

Over recent months, Arsenal’s goals from their attackers have dried up, and their stats are becoming a real concern for Mikel Arteta.

Bukayo Saka has gone nine Premier League games without a goal; meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres has just one in 11, Leandro Trossard has one in eight, and Noni Madueke is yet to score in the league.

Andrea Berta wants to sign another attacker for Arsenal this year, and perhaps it might be a good idea to accelerate that move in the next few days.

Arsenal should move for Ademola Lookman

Arsenal should be looking to make a late move for long-term target Ademola Lookman.

Manchester City reinvigorated their attack by signing Antoine Semenyo, and Arsenal should be looking to respond.

Arsenal targeted Lookman before signing Eberechi Eze, having held an ’emergency’ meeting about attacking signings.

Instead of moving for the Nigerian, the Gunners opted to pursue a deal for Eze, but it hasn’t quite worked out for the 27-year-old just yet.

Eze hasn’t had many chances at left wing, but Lookman could certainly be a player who would come in and have an immediate impact.

Lookman has just enjoyed an impressive AFCON campaign in which he netted three goals and got four assists in six matches for Nigeria.

Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard could both leave Arsenal in the summer, and need to be replaced, so signing Lookman now could be smart.

Atalanta have shown a willingness to let the 28-year-old leave this month, and Berta should be asking about the conditions.

Elsewhere, Kenan Yildiz is close to signing a new contract at Juventus, which rules out a key target for the Gunners.

Arsenal need cover at midfield in January

Two players who have dropped off in recent weeks are Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, as fatigue is starting to hit the squad.

The duo have been two of Arsenal’s top performers this season; however, Zubimendi’s mistake against Man United cost them at the weekend.

The North London club have no genuine replacements for either, and this could become a big issue further down the line.
