Traeshon Holden, a former Oregon Ducks wide receiver, didn’t hear his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft, but that hasn’t dimmed his drive to shine with the Dallas Cowboys. Signed as an undrafted free agent, the 23-year-old is fueled by a desire to prove doubters wrong and carve out a spot in the NFL.
“Prove everybody wrong,” Holden told DallasCowboys.com ahead of rookie minicamp in May. “Everybody. I’m coming for heads. That’s it.” His determination was echoed on May 22 when he posted on X: “Everything happened this way for a reason.” Though ESPN’s latest Cowboys depth chart lists him as a fourth-stringer behind stars like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Holden’s hunger and physical tools suggest he could climb the ranks.
A record 10 Ducks were drafted in 2025, but Oregon coach Dan Lanning’s roster still boasted talents like Holden, who went unselected. The wideout admitted feeling “hurt” by the snub but has channeled that pain into motivation. With five years of college football experience—starting at Alabama before transferring to Oregon in 2023—Holden brings a wealth of big-game experience. He played in the 2022 National Championship with Alabama and the 2025 Big Ten Championship with Oregon, amassing 82 receptions, 1,170 yards, and 11 touchdowns over two seasons with the Ducks.

Holden’s arrival in Dallas comes with a familiar face: former Oregon wide receiver coach Junior Adams, who joined the Cowboys as their wideout coach in February 2025. “I’m very excited,” Holden said. “He told me if he got a chance to come get me, he was coming to get me. He knows he got a dawg, and I’m ready to make it happen.” Adams’ presence offers Holden a trusted mentor as he navigates the NFL.
The Cowboys’ wide receiver room, beyond Lamb and Pickens, lacks guarantees, opening the door for Holden to make an impact. At 6-3 and 205 pounds, his size and physicality make him a compelling candidate to rise through the depth chart. He’s joined in Dallas by another former Duck, offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, a sixth-round pick in 2025.
With June minicamp in the books, Holden now sets his sights on training camp in Oxnard, California, this summer. It’s a prime opportunity to turn heads within the Cowboys’ coaching staff. Undrafted but undeterred, Traeshon Holden might just be Dallas’ secret superstar in the making.
