Liverpool are reportedly prepared to accept a sizeable offer for goalkeeper Alisson this summer amid concrete interest from Juventus and other Serie A clubs.
With Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson already confirmed to be departing Anfield, the potential exit of the Brazilian shot-stopper would represent another significant blow to the squad Jürgen Klopp built and Arne Slot has inherited. Alisson, who has made 332 appearances for the club, has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s success, delivering two Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph during his time on Merseyside.
Contractual Pressure and Injury Concerns Create a Dilemma
Football Insider reports that Liverpool find themselves in a difficult Catch-22 situation. The club activated a contract extension earlier this year, but Alisson now has just one year remaining on his deal. While the 33-year-old remains one of the world’s elite goalkeepers when fit, recurring injury problems in recent seasons have complicated his situation.
Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider explained the nuance: “There’s obviously a lot of speculation coming out of Italy that Juventus are very keen on signing Alisson, as well as some other Serie A clubs. I think Liverpool find themselves in a bit of a Catch-22 situation at the minute. Obviously, they don’t really want to sell Alisson, but he’s only got one year left on his contract… If a big offer comes in from a Juventus or somebody else, it’s something that Liverpool might consider to help balance the books and help boost their own transfer plans in that respect.”
The financial incentive is clear. A substantial sale would provide Liverpool with funds to strengthen other areas of the squad as they look to build on their current campaign under Arne Slot.
Quality Replacements Already on the Radar
Should Alisson depart, Liverpool are not short of options. The club have four goalkeepers under consideration, with Portugal international Diogo Costa emerging as a leading target to fill the void.
Costa, currently at Porto, is viewed as a high-quality, long-term successor capable of maintaining the high standards Alisson has set. His consistency and distribution would align with the modern demands placed on Premier League goalkeepers.
What This Means for Liverpool’s Project
This potential departure highlights the pragmatic approach Liverpool are taking in the transfer market. While sentimentality runs deep with a player of Alisson’s calibre — a leader, a winner, and a fan favourite — football at the highest level is ultimately a business. One sizeable offer could accelerate the transition between eras at Anfield.
For Reds supporters, the summer window is shaping up to be one of transition and tough decisions. Salah and Robertson’s exits were expected; Alisson’s potential move feels more abrupt. Yet if the right fee arrives, Liverpool appear ready to move forward, trusting their recruitment network to identify the next elite goalkeeper.
Whether Juventus can tempt Alisson with a fresh challenge in Serie A remains to be seen. What is certain is that the Brazilian’s future is now firmly in play — and Liverpool’s stance has shifted from “not for sale” to “open for the right price.”
The clock is ticking on one of the most reliable performers in modern Liverpool history.
