Arsenal are preparing a massive statement of intent this summer as they look to turn the pain of their Champions League final defeat into long-term ambition.

Having clinched the Premier League title this season, Mikel Arteta’s side came agonisingly close to completing a historic double by winning the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. However, Arsenal were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain in the final on Saturday at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Despite taking an early lead, the Gunners were ultimately defeated on penalties by the defending champions.

Now, according to well-placed sources, the north London club are ready to respond aggressively in the transfer market.

Journalist Jamie Dickenson revealed on X that Arsenal are planning a significant £300million spending spree on three key targets to strengthen the squad and bounce back from the “heartache” of the PSG loss.

The Gunners have already lined up a £175million double swoop for Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Eli Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth. The board, led by Josh Kroenke, is also prepared to sanction a further £125million for reinforcements in defence and midfield, provided the club recoups around £100million through player sales.

Dickenson wrote: “Arsenal are set to respond to their Champions League heartache by going on a £300million spending spree. The Gunners have already lined up £175m duo Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi.”

Several players are expected to depart to help fund the rebuild, with Ethan Nwaneri set to return to the first-team fold following his loan spell at Marseille. Meanwhile, Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, and Reiss Nelson are all considered surplus to requirements.

Strong interest in Morgan Rogers

TEAMtalk’s transfer insider Graeme Bailey can confirm that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are determined to bring Rogers to the Emirates Stadium for next season and beyond.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed significantly at Aston Villa, attracting interest from several elite clubs, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich. However, any deal for the Englishman will not come cheaply.

Sources indicate that Rogers could command a fee even higher than the club-record £100million Aston Villa received for Jack Grealish from Manchester City in 2021, underlining his explosive value in the current market.

Pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi

Arsenal are also showing serious interest in highly-rated Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, according to transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher.

The 19-year-old French talent is regarded as one of the brightest young attackers in Europe. While Manchester City are currently considered the frontrunners for his signature, Arsenal remain firmly in the conversation.

Bournemouth, however, have no desire to part ways with Kroupi and are understood to value the teenager at around £80million. Any move for the forward will require Arsenal to flex their financial muscle significantly.

With the Premier League trophy already secured, Arsenal’s hierarchy clearly believes that substantial investment is required if the club is to take the next step and challenge consistently at Europe’s highest level. Whether they can successfully land both Rogers and Kroupi in what promises to be a highly competitive transfer window remains to be seen, but the club’s ambition this summer is unmistakable.
