THE WAIT IS OVER: Arsenal receive response to ‘massive offer’ for Man Utd, Liverpool target with ‘saga far from over’

Arsenal have seen a substantial bid rejected for one of Europe’s brightest young midfield talents, but the pursuit of Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi is only just beginning, with the Gunners facing a clear path forward if two key conditions are met.

The 18-year-old Moroccan international has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in Ligue 1. Already capped twice at senior level for his country, Bouaddi’s composure, technical quality, and maturity have drawn admiring glances from several Premier League heavyweights. Arsenal, fresh from a Premier League title triumph and a heartbreaking Champions League final defeat, are moving decisively in the transfer market as Mikel Arteta looks to blend immediate squad upgrades with long-term vision.

According to reports, the Gunners have already lodged a ‘massive offer’ worth €60 million for the teenager, only to see it turned down by Lille. The French club clearly value their emerging gem highly and are holding firm for closer to €70 million to sanction a departure. Sources indicate the saga is far from over, with Arsenal viewing Bouaddi as a top priority target.

This development comes as Arsenal continue to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead. While bolstering the forward line remains a key focus, the club are also investing in youthful talent to secure their future. They are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Leicester City starlet Jeremy Monga, and the interest in Bouaddi fits neatly into that strategy of securing high-potential players who can develop under Arteta’s guidance.

However, the Gunners face stiff competition. Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all said to be monitoring the situation closely, making Bouaddi a sought-after asset across the Premier League. For Arsenal to secure his signature, they will likely need to improve their financial proposal to around the €70m mark while simultaneously outmanoeuvring their domestic rivals.

The situation echoes broader transfer dilemmas facing ambitious players this summer. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, another name linked with Arsenal, has been the subject of similar speculation. Former Premier League striker Emile Heskey recently offered a measured perspective on such moves when discussing Rogers.

“Would it be difficult to say no to Arsenal? Yes and no,” Heskey told The Metro. “You have to look at who is ahead of you in both teams. He’s top of the pile at Villa, he is the main man. If he goes to Arsenal, where would he be in that pecking order and does it suit the way he plays?”

Heskey added: “He is a very intelligent player so I’m sure it would. But he has to figure out what he wants from his career.”

While Rogers’ situation differs, the underlying theme resonates with Bouaddi’s position. At just 18, the Lille midfielder must weigh regular first-team football and rapid development against the lure of a move to a title-challenging Premier League side.

For Arsenal, the message from Lille is clear: meet the valuation and navigate the competition. With the summer transfer window in full swing, the club’s hierarchy will now decide whether to push harder for Bouaddi or redirect resources elsewhere. Given their track record of nurturing young talents and Arteta’s desire for squad depth and quality, this particular saga is unlikely to fade quietly.

Fans will be watching closely to see if Arsenal can turn their interest into a concrete deal, potentially adding another dynamic midfielder to a squad already brimming with ambition. The wait for a resolution may continue, but the pursuit is very much alive.
