A heated altercation at JokerStars, a social club in Houston, Texas, turned violent when former NFL superstar Adrian Peterson engaged in a fistfight with another poker player. The incident, captured on video and obtained by TMZ Sports, stemmed from a dispute over a hand during a card game.

According to Peterson, the disagreement began between him and a friend at the gaming table. “One thing led to another,” he explained, leading to a physical confrontation. The footage shows the two men exchanging blows for several seconds, even as a bystander attempted to intervene. Initially, Peterson absorbed a flurry of punches to the face, but as the fight moved toward a back wall, the former Minnesota Vikings running back appeared to land several powerful strikes.

Both men sustained visible bloody wounds, though Peterson clarified that his injury resulted from falling into a chair, not from a punch. He admitted alcohol was involved but insisted it was not the primary cause of the violence.

Peterson described the other man as a friend, likening the incident to a “brother situation.” He stated, “Me and the guy, we’re cool. We’ve known each other. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows — and that was it.” After the fight, the two reportedly reconciled, with Peterson expressing regret, saying, “I felt really bad. It’s a situation where I kind of regret it.”
Authorities were not called to investigate, and JokerStars did not impose penalties on either individual, according to Peterson. The future Pro Football Hall of Famer, who transitioned to celebrity boxing after his 15-year NFL career, has been an avid poker player in retirement. He was back at JokerStars on Thursday when he spoke about the incident.
