Emma Barnes, the vivacious 32-year-old from Bristol, shot to fame on Married At First Sight UK, and while her on-screen marriage to Caspar didn’t spark lifelong romance, it ignited a dazzling new chapter in her life. The former sales manager has embraced her newfound stardom, trading her day job for a whirlwind of opportunities, including a show-stopping appearance on a Married At First Sight special of Come Dine With Me. As she navigates her quest for true love, Emma opens up about life after MAFS, her frosty connection with ex-husband Caspar, and why she’s still hopeful about finding The One.

A TV Comeback to Remember Emma’s infectious energy is back on our screens in a Come Dine With Me MAFS special, and she’s serving up more than just good food. “It was amazing,” she beams, recalling the wild fancy-dress dinner party she hosted on her birthday. “I can’t believe I’m going to be on national TV in the outfit I wore!” Joined by MAFS alumni Stina, Kieran, Ella Morgan, and Paul Liba, Emma leaned into a wedding theme for her big night. “Everyone brought the energy, it was great,” she says, promising a memorable episode that blends chaos, camaraderie, and celebration. “It was a birthday I’ll never forget.”
Life After MAFS: A Rollercoaster Ride Since her MAFS journey, Emma’s life has been “turned upside down” in the best way possible. “I was working full-time before, now I’m lucky enough to not have to go back to that,” she shares. The overwhelming support from viewers caught her by surprise, but she’s stayed true to herself. “My friends would agree I haven’t changed much. I keep my feet on the ground and grab every opportunity with both hands.” However, one area hasn’t seen much progress: her love life. “Sadly, my dating life hasn’t changed much,” she admits with a laugh.
The Dating Drought When it comes to romance, Emma’s finding the modern dating scene tougher than ever. “I don’t know what’s going on,” she says. “There are so many challenges for single people, and the dating world is worse than before I did the show.” She wonders if her MAFS fame makes potential suitors hesitant, assuming they already know her from TV. “But to be honest, most boys don’t watch the show. It’s quite a girly show, isn’t it?” she muses. Ever the optimist, she adds, “Maybe some boys watched with their girlfriends and then broke up. I shall wait for that flood of men!”
Could another dating show be on the horizon? “At the moment, I’d take any help I can get,” Emma says. Inspired by success stories like Kerry Katona and Jon Lee finding love on Celebs Go Dating, she’s open to giving TV matchmaking another shot. “I do believe in it, and I think it works,” she says.

MAFS Bonds and Broken Ties Emma’s MAFS experience forged lasting friendships, particularly with co-star Kristina Goodsell. “Stina and I are joined at the hip, I see her all the time,” she says. The MAFS girls’ WhatsApp group is buzzing again with the new series, and Emma’s planning a watch party sleepover to catch up on the latest drama. But when it comes to the boys from her season, connections are less tight. “They’re all just cracking on,” she says.
As for her ex-husband Caspar? The vibe is decidedly chilly. “I probably spoke to you guys more recently than I spoke to Caspar!” she laughs. While she still sends polite “Happy Birthday” and “Merry Christmas” texts, Caspar’s silence speaks volumes. “I don’t get a response!” she reveals. Now married, Caspar has moved on, and Emma’s genuinely happy for him. “Of course, it would have been great if I’d been matched with someone that I stayed with or that liked me,” she reflects. “But what can you do? I don’t think any MAFS experience is perfect.”
Spilling the Tea on the New Series Emma’s hooked on the latest MAFS UK season, even chatting with some of the new cast and offering advice to their parents. “It’s such a unique experience, there’s only maybe 40 people who’ve been on the show, so you form a bond,” she explains. While she loves the drama, she knows the editing can skew perceptions. “You take it with a pinch of salt, because it may not be as it seems,” she says.
Reflecting on her own time on the show, Emma admits it was grueling. “The days are really long. I started watching my series with my mum, and I realised I looked exhausted by the end. I had the life drained out of me,” she says. Despite the challenges, she has no regrets. “It was really fun, but it was actually really, really tough. But I don’t regret a thing!”
Navigating Trolls and Triumphs While Emma’s MAFS journey was largely positive, she’s aware of the toll trolling can take, especially on co-stars like Caspar, who faced backlash. “It isn’t nice,” she says. “It can be tough, especially if you’ve had a bad experience on the show.” The show’s welfare support, including daily check-ins and weekly psych chats, helped her through, but the emotional weight of public scrutiny lingers. “You do get nervous about the episodes airing,” she admits.
Looking Ahead with a Smile With her trademark optimism, Emma’s embracing every twist and turn of her post-MAFS life. From TV appearances to new career ventures, she’s living proof that even a rocky reality TV romance can lead to unexpected rewards. As for love, she’s still searching, but her infectious spirit keeps her hopeful. “I’d have hated to fall in love straight away and watch it slowly break down on TV,” she says. “I’m still out here, ready for the real thing!”
Emma’s journey is far from over, and with her charm and resilience, it’s only a matter of time before she finds her perfect match—on or off the screen.
