THE HIJACK IS ON! Arsenal to submit ‘formal offer’ for £87.3m-rated Bundesliga striker who’s wanted by Real Madrid

Arsenal are preparing a major summer swoop for one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards, with the Gunners expected to submit a formal offer for Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage sensation Christian Kofane.

The 19-year-old Cameroonian striker has burst onto the scene in impressive fashion, catching the eye with his performances for the Bundesliga side — including standout displays in the Champions League quarter-finals. Arsenal view him as ideal competition and long-term reinforcement for Viktor Gyokeres, especially with Gabriel Jesus potentially departing at the end of the season.

Respected Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg first highlighted Arsenal’s interest earlier this week, posting on X: “Arsenal are monitoring Christian #Kofane. The 19 y/o talented striker impressed in the Champions League quarter-finals.”

He added that several other top English clubs are in the mix, while Real Madrid have also been keeping tabs on the versatile forward, who can operate through the middle or out wide.

Leverkusen are said to be demanding €60-70m (approximately £52-61m) for the player — a significant sum that reflects his rapid rise and the club’s strong negotiating position under sporting director Rolfes and Falkenberg. The pair remain in close contact with Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo.

Those links have now been strengthened by another highly credible source. Journalist Christian Falk, speaking via Bayern Insider, reports that Arsenal are expected to make a formal offer for Kofane this summer. Bayern Munich are admirers of the striker but are not prepared to enter a bidding war with the Gunners, potentially leaving Arsenal in pole position — at least from the German domestic rivals’ perspective.

The valuation, however, could climb even higher. While Plettenberg’s reporting points to a €60-70m range from Leverkusen’s side, agent Eric Depolo firmly believes his client is worth €100m (£87.3m / $115.2m). How far Arsenal are willing to stretch their budget for the 19-year-old remains to be seen, but sources suggest he will not come cheap.

Kofane, who stands at 1.89m and possesses a powerful, dynamic profile, has already made around 40 senior appearances for Leverkusen, contributing seven goals and eight assists across competitions. His blend of physicality, technical ability, and goal threat has marked him out as one of the brightest prospects in European football.

Real Madrid represent the most formidable competition in the race. The Spanish giants are known for their strategic pursuit of high-potential young talents to build for the future, and Kofane fits that profile perfectly.

For Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, landing Kofane would represent a bold, forward-thinking statement of intent. It would add youthful energy and depth to the attack while addressing the need for competition and rotation options behind Gyokeres.

With the summer transfer window still months away, the situation is fluid. Yet the convergence of reports from Plettenberg and Falk — two of Germany’s most reliable transfer voices — suggests the interest is genuine and advancing.

Arsenal fans will be watching closely. A successful hijack of this talented Cameroonian international could provide the Gunners with a high-upside forward who has the potential to develop into a Premier League star for years to come.

Keep an eye on this one — the Kofane saga is only just heating up.
