IT’S OFFICIAL! Liverpool ‘officially express interest’ in signing Ivorian ‘chaos-maker’ as ‘record’ deal takes shape

Liverpool have formally stepped up their interest in highly-rated Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure, becoming the first top English club to make their intentions clear for a potential summer move to Anfield.

According to Sky Germany, the Premier League champions have officially informed TSG Hoffenheim of their desire to sign the 20-year-old Ivory Coast international left-winger in the upcoming transfer window. The German club has been notified directly, marking a significant escalation in Liverpool’s pursuit of the exciting young talent.

Toure, who joined Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammarby in February 2025, has burst onto the scene in the Bundesliga this season. The dynamic attacker has registered three goals and eleven assists in 25 league appearances, earning praise as a ‘chaos-maker’ who blends blistering speed with sharp technique. German outlet Fussball Daten previously highlighted his ability to unsettle defences, while scouts from Liverpool were spotted watching him in action for Ivory Coast against Scotland in a recent friendly international.

This latest development builds on earlier reports from Sport Bild, which revealed that Liverpool had been closely monitoring the player, with their scouts attending his matches on a regular basis.

Hoffenheim’s firm stance on a potential sale

Toure’s contract at Hoffenheim runs until 2029 and does not contain a release clause, giving the German club significant control over any departure. However, a summer sale now appears increasingly likely.

Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Schicker openly acknowledged the interest last Friday, stating: “Bazou has developed very well. We brought him in from Sweden a year and a half ago. You can see week after week what qualities he brings. With him, it’s like this: if there’s interest – which you can tell because he delivers week after week – then it has to be in a league that Hoffenheim haven’t seen before.”

The club views Toure as a potential record-breaker in the outgoing transfer market. Hoffenheim are determined to make him their most expensive sale ever, surpassing the €43.5 million (£38m / $51.3m) they received for Joelinton when he joined Newcastle United in the summer of 2019.

Sky Germany reports that Hoffenheim’s plan is to turn the Ivorian into their new record departure, with Schicker confirming the club remains open to a sale — but only for a substantial club-record fee.

A rising star with big-club appeal

At just 20 years old, Toure has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the Bundesliga. His combination of direct running, creativity, and end-product has not gone unnoticed, with Manchester United and Arsenal also linked to him earlier in the year.

For Liverpool, who are fresh off winning the Premier League title last season, securing Toure would represent a bold investment in youth with immediate upside. The left-sided winger’s profile fits the high-intensity, attacking style associated with Anfield, offering both flair and work rate.

Whether Liverpool are willing to meet Hoffenheim’s ambitious valuation remains to be seen, but the formal expression of interest signals that the Reds are serious contenders in what could become one of the more intriguing transfer sagas of the summer.

With no release clause and a long-term contract in place, any deal would likely require significant negotiation. Yet, given Toure’s rapid rise and the clear interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs, a record-breaking move for Hoffenheim looks firmly on the horizon.
