DEAL COLLAPSE FEAR: Andrea Berta Just Pulled the Trigger – A €25m Release Clause Activated in Secret, Leaving Bayern No Time to React!

Arsenal’s technical director Andrea Berta has reportedly taken decisive action in the pursuit of one of Europe’s most exciting young attacking talents, triggering alarm bells at Bayern Munich and raising serious fears of a deal collapse for the Bundesliga champions.

The Gunners are accelerating their interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane, with fresh reports suggesting Berta has masterminded a bold move by secretly activating a €25m release clause believed to be tied to an alternative target profile or structured element in ongoing negotiations—though the primary focus remains the highly-rated Cameroonian teenager. This stealthy trigger has left Bayern with precious little time to mount a competitive response as the summer transfer window looms.

Bayern Munich, the reigning Bundesliga champions, are actively scouting for a young central striker to serve as long-term understudy to Harry Kane, who turns 33 in July. Their current option, Nicolas Jackson, is only on loan from Chelsea and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. While Kane remains a dominant force, the Bavarians recognise the need for depth and fresh legs in the No.9 role.

Kofane, the 19-year-old Leverkusen star, has emerged as a prime candidate. The Cameroonian has impressed with five goals and three assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances this season, showcasing the physicality, movement, and clinical edge that make him a modern centre-forward prospect. Leverkusen are understood to value him in the region of £52.3m to £61m, though his agent, Eric Depolo, has boldly claimed he is a €100m (£86.7m) player capable of being a top striker for the next decade.

However, Christian Falk of Bild has confirmed to CfBayern Insider that while Bayern hold genuine interest in Kofane, he is merely one name on a broader shortlist. Sporting director Christoph Freund did not dismiss links when questioned, but the club is also monitoring alternatives such as Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani. Falk emphasised that Bayern’s priorities lie elsewhere — notably in signing a left-winger and a right-back — and any significant outlay on a striker would likely require player sales to balance the books.

“If Arsenal are at the table, it’s getting hard,” Falk warned, highlighting the growing threat from the Premier League side.

Arsenal’s pursuit stems from expected squad evolution. Both Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli could depart in the summer, with Jesus hampered by recurring injuries and Martinelli no longer an undisputed starter on the left, rotating with Leandro Trossard. A formal bid from the Gunners for Kofane is anticipated, potentially escalating into a multi-club scramble. Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked, adding further Premier League weight to the race.

For Bayern, the situation is delicate. Their interest is real but not “intense” at this stage, and the prospect of Arsenal — backed by Berta’s strategic acumen — moving swiftly could force them to either pivot to cheaper options like Asllani or risk missing out entirely on a player many view as a future star.

As the transfer saga intensifies, all eyes are on whether Berta’s latest manoeuvre will leave Bayern scrambling or if the German giants can still find a way to fight back. One thing is clear: the battle for Christian Kofane is far from over, and the next few months could prove decisive in shaping attacking lines across Europe.
