Arsenal stance on Mikel Arteta’s future revealed as source drops verdict on shock exit rumours

Mikel Arteta has entered the final 18 months of his Arsenal contract, but sources close to the club have explained why supporters have no reason to be concerned, especially as the Gunners push for the Premier League title this season.

Arteta’s contract situation has sparked wild speculation that he could depart when his deal expires in the summer of 2027, or even be tempted away by another club in the meantime. In the past, the Spaniard has been linked with Barcelona – where his playing career began as a youngster – while more recently, Manchester City have entered the conversation as they contemplate life after Pep Guardiola.

However, insiders have strongly refuted the rumours, insisting that Arsenal are fully committed to building around Arteta. The club’s hierarchy firmly believe he is the man to deliver their first league title since 2004.

“There are no concerns at all about Arteta leaving,” one source exclusively revealed. “Arsenal have a very clear plan and strategy in place, and the manager is absolutely central to it.

“They have not come this far only to come this far – they have backed him in every sense. They stuck by him through difficult early periods, and when things started to get good, they invested in top players at top money to give him every chance of winning the Premier League.

“They have been delighted with what he has done. There is no fear that he is looking for a job anywhere else.

“Any time a big player has signed for them or when significant players are renewing contracts, they are being assured that Arsenal’s future is with Arteta in charge.”

Arsenal believe Arteta will lead them to glory

Arteta was appointed Arsenal boss in December 2019, and he has gradually transformed the north London club into serial title contenders, even if they have fallen short so far.

The Gunners finished eighth in Arteta’s first two full seasons in charge and fifth in the 2021/22 campaign, but they are now reaping the rewards of the club’s unwavering support.

Arsenal have finished second in each of the last two seasons, and there is genuine optimism behind the scenes that this time they can finally lift the trophy.

They currently sit four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table, so it’s little surprise to hear sources giving Arteta such a resounding vote of confidence.

As highlighted by those close to the club, Arsenal’s hierarchy have backed Arteta strongly in recent transfer windows.

They sanctioned the club-record signing of Declan Rice for a mammoth £105m from West Ham in 2023, to name just one standout example.

And last summer, they backed Arteta once again with a £250m spending spree that brought in Viktor Gyokores, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Christian Norgaard.

Even though Arteta’s contract expires in the summer of 2027, an Emirates exit remains highly unlikely. The expectation is that he will be offered an extension – it’s just a matter of when.

Latest Arsenal news: Talks for big appointment / Odegaard linked with exit

Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to add Napoli’s head of scouting Maurizio Micheli to their recruitment team, in what would represent a major coup for Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta.

Micheli has built an enviable reputation as a top talent-spotter during his time working in Italian football. He is credited with unearthing gems such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marek Hamsik.

In other developments, Barcelona have been linked with a move for Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

However, two sources have dismissed the speculation, explaining the reasons why it must be taken with a ginormous pinch of salt.
