ARSENAL’S NEW ERA BEGINS NOW! Club SMASHES transfer record for €100m wizard to REPLACE struggling star Martinelli.

Arsenal have detonated the January 2026 transfer window with a thunderbolt that will echo around the Emirates for years to come.

In a staggering club-record deal worth €100 million (£87m / $118.6m), the Gunners have completed the signing of RB Leipzig’s 19-year-old Ivory Coast sensation Yan Diomande — the dazzling “speedster” many are already calling the most exciting young winger on the planet.

The move, confirmed late on Monday night, marks the official beginning of Arsenal’s bold new era under Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta. Diomande arrives as the long-term heir to Gabriel Martinelli, whose recent struggles for game time have finally forced the club into decisive action.

Martinelli, once the poster boy of Arsenal’s exciting young side, has started just seven Premier League matches this season, with Leandro Trossard firmly ahead of him in the pecking order. The Brazilian did score in the FA Cup against Wigan on Sunday, but whispers of a possible move to Barcelona have grown louder with every bench appearance. His current deal runs until 2027 (plus a club option), yet Arsenal have clearly decided the time is right to turn the page.

Enter Diomande — the €100m wizard.

The teenager, who only joined Leipzig in the summer of 2025, has exploded onto the scene with 9 goals and 6 assists in just 24 appearances this season. Versatile enough to terrorise defences on either flank, the Ivorian has been described by Leipzig’s own website as a “speedster” and was once labelled “the talent of the century” in scouting circles (a tag previously attached to a certain Brazilian now watching from the bench).

Sources close to the deal say Arsenal moved quickly once they learned Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham were all circling. The Red Bull Group reportedly viewed Diomande as potentially “the greatest signing in their history” — until the Gunners blew them away with a bid that smashed Arsenal’s previous record (previously the £72m paid for Declan Rice).

Arteta is said to be “delighted” with the capture, viewing the teenager as the perfect blend of raw pace, technical brilliance and winning mentality needed to take the next step from challengers to champions.

Arsenal were also tracking fellow Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa, but insiders confirm the club have prioritised Diomande as the marquee statement signing to kick-start the post-Martinelli era.

The deal is expected to be officially announced in the coming hours, with Diomande set to fly to London to complete his medical and be unveiled at the Emirates later this week.

Welcome to the new Arsenal. The future is faster. The future is Yan Diomande.
