BOMBSHELL: ‘Impossible’ Liverpool ‘deadlock’ emerges for €100m winger who ‘wants to play at Anfield’

Liverpool’s ambitious plans for the summer transfer window have hit a significant snag in their pursuit of one of Europe’s most promising young talents. According to exclusive revelations from a reliable source, the Reds are facing an “impossible” deadlock that could delay or derail a potential deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has openly expressed his desire to join Liverpool, declaring in January: “I want to play at Anfield, I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a big Liverpool fan. My father’s dream is to see me play for Liverpool.” Diomande’s versatility to operate on either wing makes him an ideal long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who, at 33, is entering the twilight of his career despite his contract running until 2027.

Sources close to the club have confirmed to TEAMtalk’s transfer insider Dean Jones that Liverpool are eyeing four or five major signings in the summer of 2026, with the right-wing position a priority to bolster their squad as defending Premier League champions. Diomande, widely regarded as one of the continent’s top young prospects, has been high on their radar.

However, Sky Sport Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri dropped a bombshell on X (formerly Twitter) on February 10, 2026, at 4:49pm, revealing the contractual complications stalling any progress. Tavolieri stated: “EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool are holding off on Yan Diomande! The Reds have been made aware of a valid contract (running until December 2027) between the Ivorian and the agency he left for Roc Nation. The contract is legally registered with the English FA. Yan Diomande is also reported to have assigned his image rights to his former agency — a fundamental prerequisite, without which it is impossible to negotiate his contract with LFC. A deadlock that is forcing Liverpool to wait until the personal situation is resolved before moving forward… Wait&See… #mercato #RBLeipzig.”

This agency entanglement, involving Diomande’s switch to Roc Nation, has created a legal hurdle that Fenway Sports Group (FSG) cannot navigate at present. The image rights assignment is particularly critical, as it blocks any formal negotiations until resolved.

Compounding the issue is the financial aspect. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reported on December 31, 2025, that Diomande’s suitors extend far beyond Anfield, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United already engaging with his representatives. Interest from European giants Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain adds further competition.

A source within the Red Bull organization emphasized Diomande’s value: “There is no price on Diomande, let’s make that clear. However, any suggestions that he could be available for around €60m (£52.2m, $71.5m) is frankly laughable. Yan is a special talent, everyone knows this – arguably the best young talent in the world right now. You can only imagine the value for such a player.”

Recent reports from CaughtOffside have solidified RB Leipzig’s stance, indicating they won’t entertain offers below €100million (£87m, $119.1m). This staggering valuation reflects Diomande’s potential and the club’s reluctance to part with a player who has already made waves in the Bundesliga.

For Liverpool, this combination of personal contractual issues and a sky-high price tag represents a formidable challenge. While Diomande’s public affinity for the club could give them an edge in negotiations once the deadlock is cleared, FSG will need to act decisively amid fierce rivalry from other top clubs.

As the situation unfolds, Liverpool fans will be watching closely. The resolution of Diomande’s agency dispute could be the key to unlocking what might be one of the most exciting transfers of the 2026 window.
