BOOM! League Sources: Dubs Finalizing Massive 3-Team Trade to Acquire 2-Time MVP, Sending Shockwaves Through The Association

The Golden State Warriors are on the verge of pulling off a blockbuster that could redefine the NBA landscape. According to league sources, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Joe Lacob are deep in negotiations on a seismic three-team trade that would deliver two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Bay—pairing him with Stephen Curry in a superstar duo built to dominate now and beyond.

Here’s how the proposed deal shakes out:

  • Golden State Warriors receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • Detroit Pistons receive: Jimmy Butler + 2030 second-round pick (via GSW)
  • Milwaukee Bucks receive: Jaden Ivey, Brandin Podziemski, Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, 2026 first-round pick (GSW), 2027 first-round pick swap (GSW), 2028 first-round pick (GSW), 2031 first-round pick swap (GSW), 2032 first-round pick (GSW)

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley broke down the rationale:

“There aren’t many scenarios in which Golden State would be willing to part with Jimmy Butler, but this is absolutely on that short list. Bring Antetokounmpo to the Bay, and the Warriors would both ensure they’ll be in the championship chase for however many years Stephen Curry has left and give themselves a foundational support for the (early) post-Curry years.”

Giannis—still a top-five force in the league—remains obsessed with winning. Sources confirm he and Curry share a “good relationship” (per The Athletic’s Sam Amick), with mutual respect and shared representation paving the way for seamless on-court synergy. No drama. Just two legends hungry for rings.

But the Warriors aren’t alone in the hunt. The New York Knicks remain Giannis’ loudest suitor, with whispers of a preferred destination. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd doubled down on the urgency:

“I would trade Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and four first-round picks for Giannis and see if it’s enough… The West is young, athletic on the wing, great rim protectors everywhere. Steve Kerr’s too smart to think these old guys can keep up.”

A midseason move remains highly unlikely, but next summer could ignite a full-on bidding war. Milwaukee would demand a king’s ransom—and Golden State’s war chest of picks, young talent, and Butler’s expiring deal might just be the trump card.

If this deal crosses the finish line, the Warriors don’t just extend Curry’s championship window—they blow it wide open. Giannis in the Splash Brothers system? Defenses wouldn’t stand a chance.

The Association is holding its breath. The Dubs are all in.
