“He Told Me To Suck It Up”: Vikings Rookie Drops Bombshell On Bizarre Pre-Surgery Chat That’ll Leave You Stunned

This week should be much different for the Minnesota Vikings on the availability front. They have been walking wounded for weeks, but the cavalry is finally coming back in.

Kevin O’Connell noted that his team should get some key contributors back on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Among them is rookie guard Donovan Jackson.

He is just weeks removed from a wrist surgery, and it was one he almost talked his way out of.

Donovan Jackson talked himself into MN Vikings game

Minnesota Vikings rookie Donovan Jackson has played three games this season. The one in which he started against the Cincinnati Bengals almost didn’t happen due to his wrist injury, but he talked himself onto the field.

Jackson also answered the question as to whether or not him getting through a game would have meant he didn’t need surgery at all. The training staff cautioned him of that thought process and noted, with him being young, it made sense to get it fixed so it’s not a problem in the future.

The news came as something of a surprise when Vikings head coach revealed the status of his rookie. Obviously Minnesota was aware of the situation going into the game, and it’s a positive that the issue didn’t wind up getting worse against the Bengals.

Now eyeing a return to the field, Minnesota offensive line is shaping up to be nearly-complete for the first time all season. They’ll still be without veteran center Ryan Kelly, but Jackson gets to play with Christian Darrisaw, Will Fries, and Brian O’Neill.

During his debut against the Chicago Bears, Jackson graded out as one of the best guards in the league. We’ll see how he looks Sunday when the Eagles come to town.
