Arsenal have been handed a significant blow in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements this summer after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s father delivered a clear message regarding his son’s future at Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old Georgian international has been linked with a potential move to the Emirates Stadium, as Mikel Arteta looks to add more creativity and cutting edge to his squad on the left flank. However, fresh comments from Badri Kvaratskhelia suggest that any hopes of prising the former Napoli star away from PSG this summer are highly unlikely.
Speaking to Georgian outlet Kviris Palitra, Badri Kvaratskhelia was unequivocal about his son’s commitment to the French champions:
“Khvicha leaving PSG? He’s not thinking about that. He’s happy in Paris, where he is highly valued and respected by the club. Why should he think about moving elsewhere when he is winning titles with the team and is one of PSG’s key players? If PSG no longer wishes to continue the cooperation, we will consider options, but for now, this is not being discussed.”
The statement effectively dampens speculation that had been building around a potential blockbuster switch to north London.
Kvaratskhelia joined PSG from Napoli in January 2025 in a deal worth £59 million plus add-ons. Since arriving in the French capital, the dynamic winger has quickly established himself as a vital component of Luis Enrique’s side. He played a starring role in PSG’s successful Champions League campaign and has been in excellent form this season, contributing 16 goals and nine assists across all competitions — including eight goals in Europe’s premier club competition.
The player himself has spoken glowingly about life at PSG. Ahead of a Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, Kvaratskhelia praised the freedom afforded to attacking players under Enrique and expressed pride in his decision to move to Paris.
Arsenal’s interest in Kvaratskhelia is understandable. The Gunners are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window as they seek to upgrade their options on the left wing. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard remain the primary choices at present, but questions linger over their long-term futures, while Eberechi Eze has occasionally filled the role without fully convincing as a long-term solution.
Prior to his move to PSG, Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea had shown interest in the Georgian during his time at Napoli. Arsenal’s admiration for high-quality wide attackers is well-documented, and Kvaratskhelia’s dribbling ability, goal threat, and flair would theoretically fit Arteta’s system well.
However, the reality on the ground appears starkly different. Not only is Kvaratskhelia settled and performing at a high level, but PSG have shown no indication of willingness to sell one of their key assets so soon after his arrival. The club is reportedly exploring other attacking options internally, with Bradley Barcola currently in discussions over a new contract. Arsenal have also been linked with Barcola, though any deal for the Frenchman would likely depend on PSG’s own recruitment moves, such as a potential pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
For Arsenal supporters dreaming of a statement signing, this latest update serves as a reality check. While the Gunners continue their search for a left-sided attacker capable of making a difference in the Premier League and Champions League, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia looks set to remain a Paris Saint-Germain player for the foreseeable future — happy, valued, and focused on delivering more silverware under Luis Enrique.
The summer transfer window remains several weeks away, and situations can evolve rapidly in football. Yet, on current evidence, Arsenal will almost certainly need to look elsewhere if they are to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
