MARC GUEHI’S BOMBSHELL JUST HIT ANFIELD! Marc Guehi sends Liverpool transfer message as he opens up on botched summer move

In a revelation that’s sure to send shockwaves through Anfield, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has broken his silence on the dramatic collapse of his proposed summer transfer to Liverpool. The England international, whose £35million move fell apart on deadline day, insists the ordeal wasn’t as tough as it seemed—thanks to his unwavering faith. “God has a plan for me,” Guehi told Sky Sports News, delivering a clear message that his future remains in divine hands, even as speculation swirls about a potential January exit or free transfer next summer.

The 25-year-old centre-back, who has been a cornerstone for Palace since joining from Chelsea in 2021, saw the deal unravel when his club couldn’t find a suitable replacement. With his contract expiring at season’s end and no intention to renew, Palace faces a tough decision: cash in during the winter window or risk losing their captain for nothing. Top European clubs are already circling, ready to pounce on a pre-contract agreement come summer.

But Guehi remains unfazed. “I think everyone has this perception that it was difficult. Actually, it wasn’t difficult at all because when you’re focused on what’s the most important thing, it becomes easy,” he explained. “I know that God has a plan for me, and whatever that plan will be, will come into fruition at some point. But the goal and the focus has always been playing football and trying to do the best I can. And fortunately for me, I get to do it with people like Max.”

That “Max” is teammate Maxence Lacroix, who shed light on the squad’s spiritual side. The defender, who reunited with manager Oliver Glasner after moving from Wolfsburg, revealed how Palace’s Christian players started group prayers during their remarkable FA Cup run last season. “We have a lot of Christians here, so why don’t we put games in the hands of God, of Jesus Christ?” Lacroix said. “At first it was complicated, but after two or three games, we start to see the fruits. Last year was an unbelievable season and everyone saw that we had the grace on us. So we said: ‘Okay, let’s play for Jesus Christ’. And this is what we do.”

Guehi, whose father is a church minister, echoed those sentiments. “We have faith in Jesus Christ. And it’s about exercising our faith,” he added. “Even at the beginning, it was tough, but thankfully we continue doing that type of stuff. Continue praying. Continue having that fellowship with each other and the results came. But it’s not even about that. It’s about just being together with your brothers, and showing that faith and showing that we want to play for his glory. And giving all the glory in everything that we do. Whether things are going well or not, doing the same.”

This spiritual resilience comes amid a solid campaign for Guehi, who has captained Palace through a mixed 2025-26 Premier League season so far. The Ivorian-born Englishman, standing at 182cm and known for his right-footed prowess, has featured in all 14 league matches to date, starting every one and logging 1,260 minutes. His contributions include 2 goals, 2 assists, 26 tackles (18 won), 17 interceptions, and 75 clearances—stats that underline why Liverpool were so keen on him in the first place.

As Liverpool licks its wounds from the botched deal, Guehi’s message is loud and clear: his path is guided by faith, not frustration. Whether that leads him to Anfield in the future or elsewhere, only time—and perhaps a higher power—will tell. For now, Palace fans can breathe a sigh of relief as their star defender stays focused on the pitch, praying for more “fruits” in what could be his farewell season at Selhurst Park.
