Montigo Moss, the son of NFL legend Randy Moss, faces a steep climb to carve out his own legacy in professional football. After a solid senior season at Maine in 2024, where he recorded 61 receptions for 722 yards and seven touchdowns, Montigo went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite the setback, he earned a coveted invitation to the Minnesota Vikings’ rookie minicamp in May, a chance to prove himself among a competitive group of wide receivers, including six undrafted rookies and third-round draft pick Tai Felton.
I was fortunate enough to contact Montigo Moss and he had this to say to #Vikings fans:

As one of only two receivers at the minicamp without a contract, Montigo knew the odds were stacked against him. To earn a spot on the Vikings’ roster, he needed a standout performance—one that would convince the team to make room by cutting another player. At 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, Montigo lacks the lanky, explosive frame that made his father a matchup nightmare. His 4.6-second 40-yard dash from high school also places him on the slower side for NFL receivers. Yet, his polished route-running and physicality as a run-blocker and potential special-teams contributor gave him a fighting chance.
Behind closed doors at the Vikings’ minicamp, Montigo was exposed to a level of professionalism that left a lasting impression. In an interview with VikingsNewsSkol on June 10, he reflected on the experience: “Being around athletes who dedicate every ounce of energy to perfect their craft opened my eyes. Watching their focus during drills and their intensity in every rep showed me that talent alone isn’t enough.” The intensity of the environment, combined with the opportunity to showcase his skills, fueled his determination to push forward in his career.
Like father, like son!

Despite his efforts, Montigo did not receive a contract offer from the Vikings following the minicamp. The silence that followed his departure from Minnesota spoke volumes about the brutal reality of chasing an NFL dream. However, his time with the team was not without impact. “I’m extremely thankful to have been given the opportunity to witness that environment firsthand and to showcase my skillset in hopes of continuing my career with this talented community,” he told VikingsNewsSkol.
While Montigo remains unsigned, his performance at the minicamp planted a seed with the Vikings’ coaching staff. Sources close to the team suggest that his work ethic and physical style caught the attention of scouts, potentially opening the door for a return later this summer during training camp or preseason. For now, Montigo Moss continues to grind, inspired by the lessons learned behind closed doors in Minnesota and driven to follow in his father’s footsteps—no matter how uphill the battle may be.
