SCHEDULE SHAKE-UP: ‘Married At First Sight UK’ Season 10 Yanked From Prime Time Slot In Major Network Switch-Up

The new series of Married at First Sight UK is to run for FIVE nights a week rather than four, when it launches this weekend.

The change comes after bosses decided to switch-up the scheduling pattern in a bid to give the audience more to get stuck in to.

Fans of the show, in which two strangers get hitched after being selected by relationship experts, will be happy to hear that it will now run on Thursdays in addition to the normal Sunday to Wednesday outings on E4.

One insider said: “In a new move, C4 has announced it will run MAFS UK Sunday to Thursday so there will be more episodes for fans who stream the show to binge over coming days.”

The series, which kicks off its tenth run on Sunday, has been a huge streaming success for the Channel 4 platform.

The last series of Married At First Sight UK was the most streamed title across all streaming platforms – putting Channel 4 ahead of Netflix, Amazon, BBC, ITV and all the others.

The amount of viewing added up to 1.7million billion minutes (the equivalent of 3234 years) and the hope is that the new series, with is the fifth of the UK version, will do as well.

The new series starts with the weddings of the first few couples to say I do as they meet for the first time at the altar.

Then, in time-honoured fashion, they will live together for a set period, attending weekly commitment ceremonies to decide whether to stay married or get divorced.

The couples are paired by relationship experts based on personality and compatibility, and the show follows their journey as they attempt to build a lasting relationship.\

The matchmakers are dating and relationship expert Paul C. Brunson, Australian dating and relationship coach Mel Schilling, and UK-based sex therapist Charlene Douglas, who guide the couples through the experiment.

This time around the grooms are Ashley, Bailey, Davide, Dean, Divarni, Joe, Keye, Paul, and Steven alongside brides Anita, Grace, Julia-Ruth, Leah, Leigh, Maeve, Nelly, Rebecca, and Sarah. The series includes a new feature where the contestants’ hen and stag dos are filmed for the first time.
