Amy Kaplan, the 63-year-old fan favorite from Golden Bachelor season 2, isn’t letting her elimination slow her down. After failing to win the heart of Mel Owens, Amy has her eyes set on a bigger prize: becoming the next Golden Bachelorette. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the Golden Bachelor Gal’s Brunch on October 16, Amy made it clear she’s ready to take charge of her love life.

“If they call me, I would definitely answer,” Amy declared, hinting at her eagerness to star as the lead in a potential Golden Bachelorette season. “That would be a better scene of events for me because I would be the one they are picking, and they would have to compete for me.”
Amy, who has never been one to chase men, emphasized her stance: “I’ve never chased after a man in my life. They need to come to me. It’s ridiculous.” Her confidence and no-nonsense attitude shine through as she envisions a scenario where suitors vie for her affection, but only if there’s a genuine connection.
When it comes to what she’s looking for in a partner, Amy isn’t settling for less than perfection. “I want a connection on every level—emotionally, physically, spiritually, intellectually,” she told Us Weekly. “We have to have similar values. He has to have depth and character and soul. Am I asking for too much? He needs to be neat, warm, kind, and snuggly.”
Amy’s vision of love blends the simple and the extravagant. She dreams of cozy moments like “snuggling on a fluffy rug” and mundane joys like “shopping the aisles together” at the supermarket. Yet, she’s also craving adventure, including luxury travel, all while building a life with someone who feels like “home.”
Meanwhile, Mel Owens, the Golden Bachelor who sent Amy home, has narrowed his choices down to his final three contestants: Debbie Siebers, Peg Munson, and Cindy Angelcyk Cullers. Mel, who was married to Fabiana Pimentel for nearly 18 years, opened up about their split during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Fabiana fell for someone else. “It’s never good, right?” Mel shared with Us Weekly in September. “But I’m never going to get in the way of someone’s happiness. If you want to find somebody else in a different phase in your life—it hurts—but I can’t get in the way.”
Reflecting on how he coped with the divorce, Mel explained, “You live in the moment. Plus, I had kids, so I had to think about them before me.” With two teenage sons at the time, Mel focused on their well-being, practicing patience as he let life “work itself out.”
As Mel continues his journey to find love, Amy Kaplan is ready to steal the spotlight. With her bold personality and clear vision for her next chapter, she’s not just looking for a husband—she’s demanding a throne to rule her own love story.
