The Philadelphia Eagles, under the masterful guidance of general manager Howie Roseman, continue to solidify their reputation as having one of the NFL’s premier front offices. Roseman’s offseason moves have once again positioned the Eagles as a team to watch, with a draft class that’s earned widespread acclaim and a flurry of free agency signings that demonstrate his knack for roster-building. Despite significant losses, Philadelphia has been aggressive, bringing in talents like AJ Dillon, Josh Uche, Azeez Ojulari, and Adoree’ Jackson to bolster the squad.
With June 1st now in the rearview, the Eagles have gained some financial breathing room. According to John McMullen of Philadelphia Eagles on SI, the team freed up approximately $4.32 million in effective cap space after parting ways with veterans Darius Slay and James Bradberry. This newfound flexibility, combined with a few open roster spots, has sparked speculation about whether Philadelphia will dip back into the free agency pool to add another piece to their already formidable lineup.

One intriguing name floated by Eagles Wire’s Glenn Erby is six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen. Erby notes, “Roster building in the NFL isn’t Madden 25, but if the Eagles wanted to ensure that the pass catchers behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are dependable, they could look to sign the former Chargers and Bears star on a team-friendly deal.” Allen, coming off a 2024 season where he recorded 70 receptions for 774 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games, could be a luxury addition for a team already boasting one of the league’s top receiving tandems in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
The Eagles’ passing attack is already in good hands with Brown and Smith, complemented by tight end Dallas Goedert as the team’s No. 3 option and the recently acquired Jahan Dotson as the third wide receiver. Young talents like Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith are also in the mix, developing behind the scenes. Yet, adding a proven veteran like Allen could elevate Philadelphia’s offense to another level, providing quarterback Jalen Hurts with an embarrassment of riches in the passing game.
While the Eagles don’t need Allen, their history suggests they’re not afraid to make bold moves. Philadelphia has previously taken chances on aging superstar receivers, such as Julio Jones, though Allen, at this stage, is a far more productive player than Jones was when he joined the Eagles. With ample cap space and a front office known for its willingness to take calculated risks, signing Allen could be the kind of move that transforms an already strong roster into a juggernaut.
Stranger deals have changed franchises overnight, and the Eagles have the resources and ambition to pull off another headline-grabbing acquisition. Whether they pursue Allen remains to be seen, but if Roseman’s track record is any indication, Philadelphia will leave no stone unturned in their quest for a Super Bowl.
