Today’s Eagles OTA wasn’t just an ordinary practice — these two plays will have you hitting replay dozens of times!

The Philadelphia Eagles took to the practice fields at NovaCare under a sunny sky with temperatures nearing 80 degrees, a stark contrast to last week’s indoor OTA session. Football was back where it belongs—outdoors—and the energy was palpable. Here’s a full rundown of the day’s highlights, from jaw-dropping plays to intense drills and standout performances.

Play of the Day 1: Jalen Hurts to Dallas Goedert

In a seven-on-seven drill, Jalen Hurts delivered a picture-perfect throw to tight end Dallas Goedert down the left sideline. The ball floated flawlessly over Goedert’s shoulder, landing in the ideal spot despite tight coverage from linebacker Zach Baun. Goedert snared it with his fingertips for a massive gain—roughly 40 yards. This precision pass and catch combo was a highlight reel moment, showcasing Hurts’ arm talent and Goedert’s reliable hands.

Play of the Day 2: Rookie Mac McWilliams’ Breakup

Rookie Mac McWilliams stole the show on defense, breaking up an intermediate sideline throw from Tanner McKee intended for Harrison Bryant. McWilliams elevated to contest the pass and swatted it away with authority, proving he’s a name to watch as the Eagles build their secondary.

Sights and Sounds

Cam Latu’s Power Move: During a drill where players shed tacklers holding bags, tight end Cam Latu sent Connor Barwin tumbling backward onto his backside. After powering through two waves of resistance, Latu stripped the ball from a dummy bag while tackling it. Linebacker coach Bobby King quipped, “Take care of Connor,” as Barwin rolled back and got up, unfazed.

Adoree Jackson and Saquon Barkley’s Banter: After Barkley tried to get deep on Adoree Jackson, the two were seen chatting on their way back to the huddle. “Not trash talk,” Jackson clarified to Philadelphia Eagles on SI. He explained it was about route concepts and coverage. With safety help in play, Jackson debated dropping Barkley but held on, wary of a potential “hole shot” for Jalen Hurts to exploit. “It’s Saquon Barkley,” Jackson noted, “I can’t just let you go down the pipe like this, so I had to carry you.”

Jeff Stoutland’s Intensity: Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland was in full form, coaching up center Drew Kendall and left guard Kenyon Green on surfacing a block. Unhappy with their execution, Stoutland let loose a few f-bombs and waved his arms animatedly—welcome to the “Stoutland Way” for the rookie and veteran duo.

Tough Guy Award: Landon Dickerson

Left guard Landon Dickerson earned the tough guy nod, lining up next to Jordan Mailata with the first team despite an offseason knee procedure. Meanwhile, center Cam Jurgens, recovering from back surgery, worked on a side field with specialists. Brett Toth stepped in at first-team center for the second straight week.

Holy Toledo

The Toledo Rockets’ coaches and general manager were on hand to watch four of their former players: cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, safety Maxen Hook, and linebackers Dallas Gant and Lance Dixon. Hook and Dixon are undrafted free agents, while Gant, a 2024 Vikings UDFA, joined the Eagles’ practice squad last year. Mitchell continues to impress as a promising draft pick.

Two Who Stood Out

Quarterback Kyle McCord: Despite a shaky throw early on, McCord redeemed himself with a laser over the middle to Kylen Granson, who hauled it in amid heavy traffic for a clutch gain.

Tight End Nick Muse: The fourth-year pro turned a poorly thrown ball from Dorian Thompson-Robinson into a highlight, making a slick one-handed catch for a solid gain.

Today’s OTA was far from ordinary, with plays like Hurts’ dime to Goedert and McWilliams’ breakup begging for a replay. The Eagles are building momentum outdoors, and these moments hint at the excitement to come!
