The Philadelphia Eagles are no strangers to turning overlooked talent into household names, and they might just be on the verge of striking gold again. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Eagles are set to host a tryout next week with former New Orleans Saints second-round pick, defensive end Isaiah Foskey—a player with untapped potential who could thrive in Philly’s dynamic defensive system.
Zenitz reported on Tuesday, “Former Saints defensive end Isaiah Foskey is expected to work out with the Chicago Bears this week and the Eagles next week, sources tell CBS Sports. The former Notre Dame All-American was a second-round draft pick of the Saints in 2023. Posted 16 tackles for New Orleans last season.”

At just 24 years old, Foskey is a young, athletic pass-rusher with a pedigree that screams potential. During his college career at Notre Dame, he racked up an impressive 26 1/2 sacks over 41 games, earning All-American honors and entering the NFL as a highly touted second-round pick in 2023. However, his two-year stint with the Saints didn’t live up to the hype. In 27 games, Foskey recorded just 25 total tackles, one pass defended, and zero sacks, ultimately leading to his release this offseason after failing to secure a spot on New Orleans’ 53-man roster.
But don’t count Foskey out just yet. The Eagles have a knack for transforming players who didn’t quite fit elsewhere into stars. Look no further than Zack Baun, another former Saints player who arrived in Philadelphia as a role player and left as a First-Team All-Pro linebacker and a finalist for the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2024. Under the guidance of Philly’s coaching staff, Baun found the perfect role to showcase his skills—a blueprint that could work wonders for Foskey.
The Eagles’ defensive scheme, known for its aggressive approach and ability to maximize pass-rushers’ talents, could be the ideal landing spot for Foskey to rediscover his college dominance. At 6’5” and 265 pounds, he has the size, speed, and raw ability to become a disruptive force off the edge. If Philadelphia can unlock his potential, Foskey could follow in Baun’s footsteps and become the next breakout star in the City of Brotherly Love.
However, the Eagles will have to wait their turn. Zenitz noted that Foskey is scheduled to work out with the Chicago Bears this week. If the Bears pass on him, Philadelphia will get their shot after their Week 1 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles’ front office, led by Howie Roseman, has a reputation for finding diamonds in the rough, and Foskey’s tryout could be the first step toward another success story.
Could Isaiah Foskey be the next player to go from overlooked to All-Pro under the Eagles’ system? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: Philadelphia’s track record of turning potential into production makes this tryout one to watch.
