Karen Hauer, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has hinted at unspoken victims of the infamous “Strictly curse.”
The term refers to the pattern where celebrities and their dance partners develop romantic relationships while participating in the BBC’s popular dance show, often causing upheaval in their existing relationships.
When asked by new! magazine if the “Strictly curse” was real, she cryptically responded: “I’ve seen things. I’m not gonna talk about them. It exists. It’s there.”
Karen suggested that any potential off-camera romances are a personal choice, much like any workplace romance, reports Wales Online.
She said: “Whoever wants to go and play, that’s there on them. It’s like any other job – it just happens. People are like, ‘Oh but you guys are so sexy and you’re so close up and personal’, and I’m like, ‘Listen, I’ve been up close and personal with a lot of people but I don’t go there because I respect my job and I respect people.'”.
Gorka Marquez dismissed the idea of a “Strictly curse” as anything out of the ordinary. He stated: “No. That happens everywhere. It could happen everywhere. It’s just one of those things.”
He suggested that if someone found themselves attracted to another participant on the show, it probably indicated underlying issues in their current relationship.
He further added: “To be honest, I always said, if it happens, it’s because the people are not really happy. So, it doesn’t matter what it is.”
