NFL Scandal: Former Cowboys Player Sentenced Over Crash That Killed Victim at the Scene

A tragic incident unfolded in Richardson, Texas, early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and the arrest of a former Dallas Cowboys player. The fatal crash occurred just before 5 a.m. on the northbound lanes of North Central Expressway near Park Boulevard.

The Crash

The Richardson Police Department responded to reports of a collision and found 27-year-old Cody Morris of Plano, the female motorcycle driver, deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were initially observed at the crash site.

Around 5:30 a.m., the Plano Police Department received a call from Kelvin Joseph Jr., a 25-year-old former Cowboys cornerback residing in Allen. Joseph admitted to being involved in the crash, stating he was driving a BMW sedan at the time of the collision with Morris’ motorcycle.

Arrest and Charges

While speaking with Joseph, authorities suspected he was intoxicated. He was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and collision involving personal injury or death. Joseph is currently being held at the Richardson Jail, with no bond set at this time.

Ongoing Investigation

The Richardson Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them at 972-744-4944 to assist with the ongoing inquiry.

Kelvin Joseph’s Background

Kelvin Joseph, drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Kentucky, has had a turbulent career. In 2022, he was linked to a high-profile investigation following a fatal shooting outside a club on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, where 20-year-old Cameron Ray was murdered. Joseph was in a car with the suspected gunman but was cleared of wrongdoing four months later.

After his stint with the Cowboys, Joseph was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2023 and later played for the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, and Minnesota Vikings. He currently plays for the DC Defenders.

A Pattern of Controversy

This latest incident adds to Joseph’s history of legal entanglements, raising questions about accountability and the consequences of his actions. The tragedy has left the community mourning the loss of Cody Morris, a young woman whose life was cut short in the crash.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover the full details of the incident, and the public awaits further developments in this high-profile case.
