Arsenal are reportedly preparing an opening summer bid of around €40 million for a player that may likely replace Gabriel Martinelli
Arsenal are preparing a bold opening bid of around €40 million (£34.6m) for FC Porto’s teenage sensation Oskar Pietuszewski, with the Gunners identifying the 17-year-old Polish winger as a key long-term addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
According to reports, Arsenal’s recruitment team, led by sporting director Andrea Berta, have made the highly-rated left-sided attacker a priority target for the upcoming summer transfer window as they look to inject fresh quality and depth into their wide attacking options.
Currently, Arsenal rely heavily on Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank. However, both players have been linked with potential exits this summer. Trossard has reportedly attracted interest from Napoli, with suggestions that the Belgian could be open to a move to Serie A. Meanwhile, Martinelli has also featured in transfer speculation, with one report claiming Berta is willing to sanction his sale for around £50 million.
As the Gunners consider a significant reshaping of their attacking wide areas, Pietuszewski has rapidly emerged as a standout candidate. The teenager joined Porto from Jagiellonia Białystok in January 2026 and has made an immediate impact, registering three goals and four assists in just 15 appearances across all competitions. His performances have drawn widespread acclaim, establishing him as one of Europe’s brightest young wide talents.
Arsenal’s scouts have been hugely impressed by the 17-year-old’s technical ability, explosive pace, and impressive tactical intelligence — qualities that the club believe make him “a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s young and dynamic squad structure.”
A report cited by Football365 and Sports Boom states that Arsenal are ready to knock on Porto’s door with an initial offer in the region of €40 million. However, securing the youngster will not be straightforward. Pietuszewski is contracted to Porto until the summer of 2029, and the Portuguese club are understood to value him at his €60 million (£52m) release clause. They are unlikely to entertain anything below that figure.
Furthermore, Porto are planning to move quickly to tie down their young star. Once he turns 18, the club intend to offer him an improved contract, with the intention of raising his release clause significantly — potentially to between €80 million and €100 million (£69m–£86.6m).
Arsenal are far from alone in their admiration. Chelsea and Manchester City have also been closely monitoring Pietuszewski’s development, with City reportedly considering a transfer-and-loan-back strategy that would see the player remain in Portugal for further growth. In Germany, both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are tracking him, with Dortmund in particular said to be captivated by his pace and “flawless” suitability for high-intensity transition play.
This surprise interest in such a young, raw talent underlines Arsenal’s long-term vision under Arteta and Berta. While €40 million represents a significant outlay for a 17-year-old with limited senior experience, the club clearly view Pietuszewski as a high-upside prospect capable of developing into a star performer at the Emirates Stadium in the years to come.
Whether Arsenal are willing to meet Porto’s valuation — or go even higher in the face of competition — remains to be seen. One thing is certain: the race for one of Europe’s most promising young wingers has officially begun, and Arsenal appear determined to strike first.
